Appendix A: Capacity Needs

The reconstruction of the 14-mile Interstate 235 corridor through the heart of Des Moines included the replacement of 25 bridge crossings. Working with the local neighborhoods, the Iowa Department of Transportation developed a simple, contemporary design for the pedestrian bridges which span the freeway in a graceful, arching curve.
